This week I stopped by to see S3 and Tullahoma City School Director of Nutrition, Angela Cardwell! S3, Starvation Salvation Station, is in its third year of feeding children throughout the Tullahoma community. S3 is the TCS Nutrition Department’s food truck. Did you know that Tullahoma was the first district in the entire state of Tennessee to bring a food truck to life to feed kids through school nutrition? Angela made her vision a reality by building S3 from scratch and hitting the roads of Tullahoma to provide free meals to any child 0-18 years old. How awesome is that?!

S3 has tirelessly been running the roads of Tullahoma since the beginning of the pandemic in the spring of 2020, providing 7 days of breakfast and lunch in what they call a weekly meal pack. It is loaded with items ranging from shelf stable, to fresh produce, frozen entrees and cold food items to last the week. They provide heating and storage instructions in each meal pack to make sure food is handled with food safety in mind.
S3 will be continuing the same route schedule currently pinned on their Facebook page Tullahoma City Schools Nutrition Department throughout the summer. They will be going out on Monday’s with a 3 day meal pack and Wednesday’s with a 4 day meal pack. Any child can get food from the truck with no registration required.

They will be taking S3 to camps, VBS, the Lannom Library and other events throughout the summer as well so keep a look out! Make sure to follow them on Facebook or check out the schedules on their website at www.tcsedu.net/departments/school-nutrition.

We are so thankful to the TCS Nutrition Department to provide free meals to the children of our community at their designated locations, but we are in awe of them for being able to hit the road and reach as many children as possible. Thank you TCS Nutrition Team for bringing S3 to our community and your endless hard work!
